Overview

The Highlands Forward Door Sign Generator is provided by Highlands Community Charter School to help authorized personnel create standardized office door signs. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the generator processes and how it is handled.

Information You May Enter

There are four standardized sign types, and each one only asks for the information needed to produce that sign:

• An employee's full name, job title, and optional department or program (for a Standard Employee sign)
• Names and titles for two to four people (for a Shared Office sign)
• A department or office name and optional subtitle (for a Department / Office sign)
• A room or space name and optional short description (for a Conference / Meeting Room sign)

Every sign type also automatically displays the Highlands Forward logo and the "Highlands Community Charter School" line — these are standardized branding elements, not information you type in, and there is no way to turn them off.

How Information Is Processed

Everything you type is processed locally, inside your own web browser, to generate the live preview and the downloaded PDF or printed sign. The generator does not intentionally transmit the information you enter to a Highlands Community Charter School database, server, or any external API — there is no backend that this application sends sign data to.

Local Storage / Draft Autosave

To keep an accidental page refresh from erasing your work, the generator automatically saves your current, in-progress sign details to your browser's local storage on your own device. This includes the sign type you've selected and whatever you've typed into the visible fields (for example, name, title, department, or occupant details).

This saved draft exists only to restore your in-progress sign the next time you open the generator in that same browser — it is not sent anywhere. It stays on your device until you clear it, your browser clears it (for example, by clearing site data or browsing in a private/incognito window), or it is overwritten by a later draft. Clicking Reset form in the application immediately clears the saved draft.

Cookies

The Door Sign Generator application itself does not use cookies for advertising, behavioral tracking, or building a profile of you. It does not set any cookies of its own. This policy does not make claims about cookies that Netlify, our hosting provider, may set independently as part of operating its infrastructure — see "Hosting / Technical Logs" below.

Analytics and Tracking

The application does not include advertising trackers or behavioral analytics scripts. No part of the code loads an analytics library, and nothing you type into the sign form is captured for analytics purposes. This policy does not claim that no technical information whatsoever is ever processed by the hosting infrastructure that delivers this website — see below.

Hosting / Technical Logs

This site is hosted on Netlify. Like most web hosting providers, Netlify may process limited technical information as a normal part of delivering, securing, and operating any website — this can include things like IP address, browser or device information, request timestamps, request paths, and security or error information. This kind of infrastructure-level logging happens independently of this application's own code, and Highlands Community Charter School does not actively collect or review this information as part of the Door Sign Generator itself.

External Services / Dependencies

The generator uses one third-party code library, jsPDF, to build the downloadable PDF file. jsPDF is stored locally as part of this application (not loaded from an external website), and generating a PDF does not involve sending any information over the network. Aside from this locally stored library, the application does not call any external APIs or load remote scripts, fonts, or trackers. Being locally stored does not mean no third parties are involved at all — this website is still hosted through Netlify, as described above.

Data Sharing

Information you enter into the sign-generation fields is not intentionally sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing purposes. This statement is limited to the Door Sign Generator tool itself and is not a broader statement about Highlands Community Charter School's other systems or practices.

Data Security

The Door Sign Generator is designed to minimize unnecessary transmission of the information you enter — most notably, by doing all sign generation in your browser rather than on a server. That said, no system connected to the internet, including this one, can guarantee absolute security.

Sensitive Information — Please Don't Enter This

This tool is meant for basic office signage information only. Please do not enter:

• Passwords or login credentials
• Social Security numbers
• Financial information
• Medical information
• Confidential student information or student education records
• Any other sensitive or restricted information

The Door Sign Generator is built for staff and office signage — it is not designed or intended to hold student records of any kind.

Children / Student Information

This is an administrative, internal signage utility intended for use by authorized staff. It is not intended for students to use to submit personal information. This policy does not claim that the tool has been reviewed for or certified compliant with any specific student-privacy law.

Policy Changes

This policy may be updated if the generator's functionality changes — for example, if new integrations, analytics, or data-storage practices are introduced, or if the hosting architecture changes. Material changes will be reflected in an updated effective date at the top of this page.
